Manchester City Head of Performance Donough Holohan is leaving the Premier League champions after almost 13 years to seek a ‘new adventure’.
Holohan joined City in July 2012 as First Team Sport Scientist and Strength and Conditioning Coach, having previously worked at Charlton, West Ham, Colchester United, Preston and Derby. When Sam Erith left City in October 2022, Holohan stepped up to become Interim Head of Performance, before taking the job on a permanent basis six months later.
I’m so proud to have been a part of this magnificent club. Brilliant people, beautiful football, epic challenges, life-changing experiences.

Writing on LinkedIn on Friday (March 16th), Holohan said: “Today is the end. And the beginning. After almost 13 amazing years at Man City, I feel it’s time for a new adventure.
“It’s impossible to articulate here and now what this phase of my career, of my life, has meant to me and my family. But I know I’m so proud to have been a part of this magnificent club. Brilliant people, beautiful football, epic challenges, life-changing experiences.
“A club that for me stands as testament to what can be achieved when talent works hard.”
