Mathew Banks has left Southampton after six years to become Lead Physical Performance Coach at 292 Performance, the company founded by former England Performance Lead Ben Rosenblatt.

Banks joined Southampton’s Academy in 2019 and became their First Team Strength and Conditioning Coach six months later.

For the last year he has been on secondment with Valenciennes, Southampton’s French sister club, as Head of Performance.

Rosenblatt founded 292 Performance in 2023, having led the physical performance for the men’s pathway at the Football Association for seven years.

He works with teams and individual athletes, including Raheem Sterling, on a consultancy basis and utilises performance data scientists, physical coaches, nutritionists and psychologists to provide “elite coaching methods and unique in-depth data analysis systems.”
