Ruud van Nistelrooy has left Manchester United along with a trio of other staff following the arrival of Rúben Amorim as Head Coach.
The United legend, who scored 150 goals in 219 appearances for the club between 2001 and 2006, returned as Assistant to Erik ten Hag in the summer. When Ten Hag was sacked last month, Van Nistelrooy took over as Interim Head Coach and managed three wins and a draw in his four games in charge.
Amorim, who started work at United today (November 11th) had told reporters he would talk to Van Nistelrooy before a decision was made on his future. This afternoon the club announced that the Dutchman would be leaving Old Trafford, along with fellow Assistant Rene Hake, Goalkeeper Coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Performance Analyst Pieter Morel.
“Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend,” United said in a statement. “We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.”
Hake and Ten Rouwelaar had also arrived at United in the summer, as the club revamped the support staff around Ten Hag. Morel had joined the club the previous summer from Ajax.
United said Amorim’s backroom staff would be announced “in due course.”
