What are the Masterclasses?

Available exclusively to Premium Members, the Masterclasses are a mix of insights from industry experts and technical deep-dives with Twelve Data Scientists. You can join live and put your questions directly to the presenters — and if you can’t make it, recordings are added to the on-demand Library afterwards.

The goal is straightforward: to give you the knowledge and connections that will help you break into professional football, or sharpen your expertise if you’re already in it.

What’s coming up:

• Monday 27 July: Individual tactical preparation (Alec Tate, Personal Tactical Analyst, AT Analysis). How do elite players prepare tactically for individual opponents and specific match scenarios? Alec works one-on-one with pro players to give them a personal analytical edge — and shares how that works in practice.
• Wednesday 5 August: Building team performance by developing individual behaviours (Jack Cassidy & Andres Flores, Portland Timbers 2). How do you build a high-performing team by focusing on the individual? Two of the coaching staff behind one of MLS’s most progressive development sides reveal their methodology and the practical tools they use.
• Monday 31 August:Data analysis at international level (Bence Kocsis, Lead Data Analyst, Hungarian Football Association). How does data analysis work differently at national level compared to a club? Bence leads the data science capability for Hungary’s national teams and will share how his team turns data into insight.
• Thursday 24 September: Data engineering for football (Matthias Green, Data Engineer, Twelve). Matthias, who builds the data infrastructure behind Twelve’s AI-powered analytics tools, will share what’s involved in engineering data pipelines that clubs and federations rely on.
• Monday 28 September: Predicting match and season outcomes (Victoria Friss de Kereki, Data Analyst, SkillCorner). How much can be predicted before a ball is kicked? Victoria will give insight into what the numbers can (and can’t) tell us about who’s going to win.
• Monday 5 October: Identifying and understanding tactical formations (Hadi Sotudeh, Data Scientist). How do you turn raw positional data into a clear picture of a team’s shape and tactics? Hadi will tell us how formation detection is changing the way analysts read the game.
• Monday 19 October: What is context engineering? (Professor David Sumpter, Co-Founder, Twelve). Professor Sumpter helped pioneer the concept of context engineering.  In this session he will explain what it takes to turn raw football data into insight an LLM can actually reason with.
• Monday 23 November: Creating a successful data team (Joe Sullivan, Women’s Team Data & Technology Manager, The Football Association). How Joe has built data teams that have impact – and that coaches and players trust.
