Domenico Teti has been appointed as Director of Professional Football at Wolves as part of a new five-man ‘Football Leadership Team’.

The move reunites Teti with Wolves Manager Vitor Pereira, with whom he worked at Saudi club AlShabab. Teti left his role as Sporting Director there in November 2024, with Pereira departing a month later.

Italian Teti has had a variety of roles in different countries, starting as Academy Director at Verona before becoming Sporting Director at Lugano in Switzerland, Sampdoria and Novara in his homeland, Apoel in Cyprus and then AlShabab.

Teti, who replaces Matt Hobbs, said: “I am truly excited to join the Wolverhampton Wanderers family and to feel the passion of its fans, who embody the soul and spirit of this historic club. It is an honour to be part of something so special.

“I look forward to contributing to the development of a passionate, forward-thinking, and proactive football culture.”

Wolves said the new Leadership Team would “improve the strategy and planning around professional and first-team football,” enabling “better collaboration and helping to ensure alignment and consistency across the professional environment.”

The other members of the Leadership Team are:

  • Matt Jackson (Director of Player Recruitment and Development): Joined Wolves in 2021 as English football’s first Strategic Player Marketing Manager and went on to work as an assistant to former Sporting Director Matt Hobbs. The former Norwich and Everton defender will work closely with Teti, while also overseeing the Academy and Wolves Women.
  • Phil Hayward (Director of Performance): Will lead an “integrated approach” to sports science, psychology, player health and wellbeing. Initially worked for the club from May 2008 to December 2019, latterly as Head of Medical, before moving to the United States as Director of Performance for LA Galaxy. Returned to Molineux in 2023 as Head of High Performance.
  • Matt Wild (Director of Football Operations & Administration): Has been with the club for eight-and-a-half years, overseeing football operations, financial efficiency of the football business and governance.
  • Max Fitzgerald (PR & Communications Director): ‘Realigned’ role focused on media relations, internal communications and ‘cross-club alignment.’

The five members of the Leadership Team will all report into Executive Chairman Jeff Shi and be based at the club’s Compton Park Training Ground.

Shi said: “I’m pleased to welcome Domenico to Wolves as part of our Football Leadership Team. His international background and experience at senior levels will bring fresh insight to the club and strengthen the structure supporting head coach Vitor Pereira and the first-team environment.

“Alongside Matt, Phil, Matt and Max, who have been a key part of the progress we have made recently, this leadership group provides clear expertise across all operational areas, ensuring alignment and strong collaboration throughout the football department.”
