Stoke City Head of Recruitment Lee Darnbrough has left the club after seven months.
Darnbrough has previously worked in senior recruitment roles for West Brom, Burnley, Norwich City and Hull City and joined Stoke at the start of July 2024.
At the time, Stoke City Sporting Director Jon Walters told TGG: “He has 20 years’ experience in what he’s doing and has worked under some unbelievable Sporting Directors – and has grown himself
“He brings experience in the domestic market, in the international market, and for me to have someone like that, who has a lot more knowledge than me in this area, who will be able to push me, means he is the right person.”
However, Darnbrough is now departing after two transfer windows. TGG understands that Stoke will be recruiting for a replacement and that new Manager Mark Robins, who arrived at the club on New Year’s Day, will be involved in that process.
Speaking earlier this week about his hopes for the rest of the season, Walters said: “We have got to really push on. We are not in a great place, we are not where we want to be, but now we have got Mark at the helm, an experienced manager who knows how to take a team from where we are now to the play-offs to the upper upper echelons of the league, where we need to be.”
Stoke are currently 19th in the Championship, three points above the relegation places.
