Scott Smith has been promoted to Academy Manager by Norwich City after 12 years with the Canaries.

Smith joined the club from Luton Town in 2014 and steps up from Head of the Foundation and Youth Development Phases. He replaces Joe Shulberg, who left in January to become Assistant to former Canaries boss Johannes Hoff Thorup at Austrian side Rapid Vienna.

Norwich said that in his new role, Smith would “help drive all areas of the Academy, supporting strategic priorities and leading on all operational processes.”

The Canaries are also recruiting for a Football Development Director to replace Dean Rastrick, who was appointed Academy Director by Everton at the start of April.

The club advertised for the role on TGG Jobs and stated that the successful candidate would “provide strategic direction across all Academy functions, including the coaching curriculum, playing style philosophy, and interdisciplinary player development.”

Norwich placed 19th in the most recent edition of TGG’s Academy Productivity Rankings, for 2024/25.
