Andy Robertson has paid tribute to Liverpool’s backroom staff after the club claimed a record-equalling 20th league title with victory against Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.

The 5-1 victory secured a second Premier League title for the Scotland captain – and a first for Head Coach Arne Slot, who arrived at Liverpool last summer. Robertson, who has been with the Reds since July 2017, was full of praise for Slot, but also made sure to mention the work of his wider staff.

“He (Slot) has done unbelievable – him and his staff,” Robertson, 31, said. “His backroom staff work so hard. The manager gets all the credit – and rightly so, he should – but his assistants, coaches and everyone behind him work so hard to make sure we are best prepared as possible going into every game.

“You’ve seen that – we’ve had slight changes that have hurt teams. He’s been unbelievable since he came in. He’s a winner and he made that clear on day one. We all got on board with that very easily and it was about getting in a rhythm and getting over the line.

“Thankfully we have done that. We are delighted for him, all of ourselves and everyone involved with the club. It means the world, it means everything to us.”

Slot added: “[I’m] incredibly proud, not only of the players but the people standing here – Sporting Directors, my staff members – we should give them a big round of applause.”
