Manchester City Foundation Phase Coach Kieron Lovelady has been appointed First Team Coach of Turkish Süper Lig side Adana Demirspor at the age of just 27.
Lovelady has joined the club as part of Mustafa Alper Avci’s staff, after the Turkish coach was appointed as Manager earlier this week. Alper Avci managed several teams in his homeland before moving to England in 2021.
The UEFA Pro Licence holder was Head of Youth and Academy Coaching at Chorley, Academy Coach at Port Vale and has worked at Manchester City’s Academy for the last two-and-a-half years.
Lovelady has been with City for the last three seasons and previously worked at Preston North End and Rochdale. His coaching journey began at the age of 18, when he took charge of Southport’s Under-18s, leading them to the North West Youth Alliance League title.
As far as TGG is aware, he has become the youngest English coach working at first-team level in Europe’s top 10 leagues.
Lovelady told TGG “It’s an incredible opportunity to be part of Adana Demirspor’s first-team setup. I’m excited to contribute to the club’s ambitions and continue my development as a coach at the highest level.
“I’m grateful for the experiences that have brought me to this point and look forward to embracing this new challenge.”
Alper Avci and Lovelady will take their first training session with the team today (Wednesday January 30th). Their first match is at home to Kasimpassa on Sunday, followed by a trip to Turkish champions and league leaders Galatasaray the following weekend.
