Fox returns to Plymouth as Head of Football Operations

Plymouth Argyle have appointed former midfielder David Fox as their new Head of Football Operations.
Fox, 41, replaces Neil Dewsnip, who exited as Director of Football in January following Wayne Rooney’s departure as Head Coach. Argyle had originally been looking for another Sporting Director, but have now opted for the different role of Director of Football Operations.
The recruitment process was led by Bromby and Partners, who will also now support Fox in the role for the next 12 months. Fox joins from Leicester City, where he was Loans Manager, having previously held the same role at Huddersfield Town.
“Following Neil Dewsnip’s departure, we reviewed the structure of our football leadership department and spoke openly about our desire to appoint a Sporting Director,” said Chief Executive Andrew Parkinson.
“Following further thought and advice from external consultants, introducing the role of Head of Football Operations was better suited to the way we wanted our football leadership team to move forward.
“Although the process took longer than anticipated, we were intent on bringing in someone with not only the relevant skills and experience for the role, but someone who knows Argyle and Plymouth – someone who knows the intricacies of the club, our location, and our uniqueness. In David, we have exactly that.”
Fox made 128 appearances as a player for Argyle from 2016 to 2019 and Parkinson described him as “a firm fans’ favourite who knows the club well,” adding, “we believe he is the perfect person to step into this role and lead our football operations forward.”
Meanwhile, Tom Randle has joined as Head of Recruitment from Houston Dynamo, where he was Director of Identification and Recruitment. Prior to that he worked for Cercle Brugges, where he was Chief Scout and worked with current Argyle boss Miron Muslic.
Randle replaces Jimmy Dickinson, who is joining Bolton Wanderers in the same role.
