Former Tottenham Head of Sport Science Sam Pooley has been appointed Head of Performance at Rangers.
Pooley replaces Tom Taylor, who left the Scottish side last month to become Lead Physical Performance Coach at Chelsea. Pooley joined Tottenham in July 2014 as Academy Sports Science Intern.
After getting a full-time role he was promoted to First Team Sports Scientist in August 2019 and then to Head of Sports Science in July 2021, before exiting in April last year.
Tottenham’s performance department has undergone significant changes since the end of last season. Head of Medicine and Performance Geoff Scott left after 20 years’ service in the summer, as did Nathan Gardiner, who had replaced Pooley as Head of Sport Science for a brief period.
He went on to join Chris Davies’ staff at Birmingham City.
Meanwhile, First Team Physical Performance Coach Jordan Slack has left Tottenham after five-and-a-half years to join The Football Association as Men’s Pathway Physical Performance Coach.
Slack joined Tottenham’s Academy in October 2019 before being promoted to the First Team a year later.
