Leicester City have appointed Manchester United’s former Director of Football Operations, Alan Dawson MBE, as their Director of Stadium Operations.

Dawson worked for Manchester United for a total of more than 11 years and exited in August 2023 after completing a project for former CEO Richard Arnold.

His appointment at Leicester is his first in football in more than a year and the role will be centred around the “further development and expansion” of the King Power Stadium, signalling the club’s intent to push ahead with their expansion plans.

The Foxes first outlined their ambition to expand the stadium in October 2021 when they applied for planning permission to increase its capacity by 8,000 seats. These plans were approved by the local council in December 2023, which the club said would prove to be “transformational for the city and the region.”

Dawson joined United in April 2012, initially as Commercial Operations Director. He was promoted to Director of Business Development and Group Operations Director before being named Director of Football Operations in September 2017.

This job centred around the management of first-team staff and operations and line-management of senior analysis, medical and performance staff. Prior to joining The Red Devils, Dawson spent 18 years with the Royal Airforce as a Squadron Commander and trainer and was awarded an MBE.
