Former Brighton Technical Director David Weir has been appointed as the new Sporting Director of Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg.
The 55-year-old left the Seagulls in September after seven years. He has now joined French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, who, like Chelsea, are owned by BlueCo.
Weir previously worked with Chelsea Sporting Director Paul Winstanley and Director of Recruitment Sam Jewell at Brighton.
“It is a great honor to join Racing – a historic club with a strong identity and growing ambition,” Weir said. “I was convinced by the project and the quality of the people already in place.
“I am eager to settle in Strasbourg and become fully involved in the life of Racing. I look forward to working with Liam (Rosenior) and all the teams to contribute to Racing’s success this season and in the years to come.”
Weir joined Brighton as Loans Manager in 2018. He was promoted to Assistant Technical Director before taking on the top job in May 2022 following Dan Ashworth’s exit to Newcastle United.
Strasbourg are currently fourth in Ligue 1, two points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
