Matt Dye has left Norwich City after two years to join Wycombe Wanderers as the League One club continue to make key hires ahead of the relaunch of their Academy next season.
The League One leaders, now under the ownership of Kazakh billionaire Mikheil Lomtadze, have applied for Category Four status for the start of 2025/26, having scrapped their Academy in 2012.
Bringing in highly-qualified people like Matt underlines the club’s commitment to delivering an elite environment for young players.
Jeremy Sauer, Academy Director
Dye joins as Head of Football Development and will help “develop and implement” the club’s game model and coaching methodology. The UEFA A Licence coach has been Player Development Manager at Category One Norwich City since October 2022. Prior to this he was Head of Academy Coaching and Foundation Phase Lead during six years at Peterborough United.
Wycombe Academy Director Jeremy Sauer, who joined from Brighton in August, said: “Matt is a very highly-regarded developer, who joins us with a fantastic track record working within two excellent Academies, and is another brilliant addition to the Academy’s leadership team .
“Bringing in highly-qualified people like Matt underlines the club’s commitment to delivering an elite environment for young players, and we’re excited to have him on board.”
Meanwhile, Harry Hudson has left his role as Brentford’s Under-15 and U16 Assistant after only a few months to become Wycombe’s U18s Head Coach. The League One club have already launched a U18 training group, which is taking part in weekly sessions ahead of the formal launch of the Academy next season.
Hudson was Director of the Kinetic Coaching in Sport charity before joining Brentford in the summer. Wycombe are conducting a major behind-the-scenes recruitment drive intended to “raise standards” following the takeover by Lomtadze in May.
