Former Premier League midfielder Lee Cattermole has been appointed Set Piece Specialist at League One Bristol Rovers.
Cattermole is a UEFA A Licence coach and now has almost five years’ experience under his belt as a coach, at Middlesbrough (as Academy coach and then Under-18s Lead), Northern Ireland (U17s coach) and Burnley (U18s Assistant).
As a player, he made 272 Premier League appearances, for clubs including Middlesbrough, Wigan and Sunderland, during a 15-year career.
At Bristol Rovers his title will be First Team Coach, but he will have “a focus on the development and implementation of set pieces.”
The move reunites him with former Boro team-mate George Friend, who is now Director of Football for The Gas.
Cattermole said: “I am delighted to join the coaching team at Bristol Rovers. Having spoken to the guys here and George Friend, I very quickly got excited about the project being developed here at the club.
“Everything I’ve heard about Bristol Rovers tells me it’s an exciting time to be part of things here, and I’m looking forward to getting going.”
