Burton to leave Norwich after almost nine years as Head of Medical

He is stepping away to concentrate full-time on The Burton Clinic, the private practice he has been running on a part-time basis at the Cora Health Clinic in Norwich. Burton plans to open a bespoke, state-of-the-art facility in the city in September.

He will officially depart Norwich on 30 June but will remain in post until then, working alongside new Performance Director Dr Paul Ford MBE to help shape the performance department during the transition period.

Announcing his exit on LinkedIn, Burton wrote: “Although it has been a difficult decision to leave the club and the amazing people within it, I am super excited as we look to grow and develop the business from strength to strength, offering both specialist physiotherapy and sports injury rehabilitation services to the demographic of Norwich and individual athlete and club, medical and performance consultancy services to the wider demographic.

“I now plan to enjoy the exciting end of an unforgettable season and support the new club-wide Performance Director Dr Paul Ford MBE in shaping the department at the club moving forward.”

Speaking to TGG, Burton added: “I still want to be heavily involved with elite performance, working with both clubs and players, but also wanted to have a work-life balance, as I have three young kids.

“I’ve had a fantastic time at Norwich City and worked with some great people, but always wanted to leave on my own terms and am excited about the future with The Burton Clinic.”
