NEW Head Coach Jesse Marsch has announced his backroom staff at Leeds United, with Franz Schiemer, Cameron Toshack and Mark Jackson joining as his assistants.

American Marsch succeeded Marcelo Bielsa as the Premier League club’s new Head Coach on Monday.

Schiemer previously worked with him as Assistant Head Coach at Red Bull Salzburg. As a player, the 35-year-old made more than 150 appearances for the club and won 25 caps for the Austria national team.

Toshack played for clubs including Cardiff City and Weymouth before turning to coaching. He worked as assistant to his father, the Liverpool legend John Toshack, for the Macedonia national team and in 2013 joined Swansea’s Academy and led their Under-18s, 19s and 23s.

Toshack left South Wales in 2019 to become Head Coach of Cypriot side Paphos and departed 10 months later. He is a Uefa Pro Licence holder and has a degree in psychology from Swansea University.

Jackson was a youth player for Leeds and began his coaching career at the club in November 2015, taking charge of the U15s and U16s before becoming Head Coach of the U18s in 2018. In September 2020 he became Head Coach of their U23s.

Former Middlesbrough and Cardiff City player Andrew Taylor, who joined Leeds from Sunderland in 2021 as Loans Manager, will step in to take interim charge of the U23s.

Four assistants left Leeds United along with Bielsa when the Argentine was sacked by the club on Sunday.
