JORDI GARCIA has been appointed as Head of Performance at newly-promoted Watford.

The Spaniard replaces compatriot Moises de Hoyo, who left at the end of last season for family reasons after four months in post.

Garcia is hugely experienced, having previously worked for Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid. At Madrid, he helped set up their high performance centre, known as Real Madrid TEC.

For the last decade, he has worked in China and the Middle East, and has been Head of Performance at Shabab Al Ahli in the UAE for the past two years. Prior to that he was Head of Sport Science at Chinese giants Guangzhou Evergrande in 2018/19.

Writing on Twitter, alongside a photo of one of the club’s training pitches, he said: “New Office. Excited for the start a new chapter at? Watford as Head Performance & Fitness Coach. New country and new league.”
