BOURNEMOUTH lead strength coach Ben Donachie has been appointed Director of Performance by MLS side Chicago Fire.
Donachie joined the Cherries in September 2012 and went on to experience two promotions and four seasons in the Premier League.
He will join the Fire, who kick off their MLS season against Seattle Sounders on March 1st, on receipt of his work visa.
“Ben has worked with players at the highest level in world football,” said Chicago Fire Sporting Director Georg Heitz. “His expertise in sports performance will play an important role in the development of our first team and academy players.
“We look forward to having him join our technical staff. We welcome Ben and his family to Chicago.”
Heitz and head coach Raphael Wicky, who worked together at Basel in Switzerland, joined the club in December.
Donachie added: “After speaking with Georg and Raphael, it didn’t take long for me to decide that I wanted to come on board,. Their vision for this incredible club is very motivating and it’s an exciting time to join the Fire. I can’t wait to get started.”
