BURNLEY Head of Coaching Ian Jones is leaving the club after six years to become a Coaching Auditor with the Professional Game Academy Audit Company (PGAAC).

Jones, who appeared on Episode #2 of the TGG Podcast, joined the Clarets in July 2017 having previously worked for nearby Blackburn Rovers in separate spells spanning 16 years.

During his time with Burnley, their Academy rose from Category Three to One, although they are now back at Cat 2 status. Jones, who holds the UEFA Pro Licence and a postgraduate degree in coach development, will review and evaluate coaching programmes in his new job.

PGAAC is a game-owned body that audits Academies in areas including leadership and management, coaching, performance support, education, player care, safeguarding and medical, and emotional wellbeing.

Jones’ exit means Burnley are now looking for both a new Academy Manager and Head of Coaching. The Academy Manager role is currently being advertised on TGG.
