BRIGHTON’S lead first team strength and conditioning coach Tom Barnden has left the club after seven years to join Manchester City.

His new role is as fitness coach with City’s elite development squad, working alongside coach Paul Harsley. The squad is City’s Under-23 outfit, although it is populated mainly with the club’s best U18s.

Barnden will work closely with individual players, helping them bridge the gap to first team football, whether that be at City or beyond. The practitioner joined Brighton in July 2012 as Head of Academy Sports Science and Strength and Conditioning, before being promoted to lead S&C.
