Academy Director Sean Cullen is leaving Fulham after a decade to become Head of Recruitment for the Women’s First Team at Brighton.

The move will reunite Cullen with Mike Cave, who was his predecessor as Fulham Academy Director and who is now Assistant Technical Director at Brighton.

Cullen joined Fulham full-time in 2015, as Academy Education Manager. In August 2021, he was promoted to Academy Manager, with the core responsibility of managing the Pastoral and Operations departments, before being appointed Academy Director in February 2023.

He is a teacher by trade and previously worked in schools across London and Surrey, as Head of Year, Head of Department, Special Needs Co-ordinator and Assistant Head Teacher.

Fulham described Cullen’s role as working closely the “Education, Player Care, Safeguarding, Sports Performance & Medical, Psychology and Football Operations departments to help ensure all our players can progress in a challenging, yet supportive and safe environment.”

The Category One Cottagers, who placed 16th in the latest edition of our Academy Productivity Rankings, are now in the process of appointing a new Academy Director, with headhunters having been appointed to lead the search.
