Miguel Vidal has left US Soccer after four years to become the new Head of Analysis at Houston Dynamo in the MLS.
Vidal joined US Soccer in June 2022 as a Sport Scientist and was promoted to Senior Data Scientist in October 2024. His role married data analytics with exercise science, “enabling strategic decisions that enhance athletic performance.”
Vidal, who is a TGG Premium Member, has a foundation in software development and expertise in extracting actionable insights from complex datasets.
Announcing his exit on LinkedIn last Friday, Vidal said: “Today marks my final day at US Soccer and I’m leaving with a lot of gratitude. I’m proud of what I was able to contribute here – work I believe will have a lasting impact on how this federation approaches performance and analytics.
“Nearly four years. There were wins, but there were also real failures – and honestly, that’s where I learned the most. None of this happens without the people who put their trust in me (looking at you Ellie Maybury, Rick Cost, Nathan Sherlock and Sam Gregory.
“What I’ll miss most is the people. Every day I was surrounded by individuals who made me sharper and more intentional – that kind of environment is rare, and I’m leaving a better version of myself because of it.
“To give back to the sport I love, and contribute to what soccer means in this country — that’s been the privilege of a lifetime. Thank you US Soccer.”
Houston Dynamo compete in the MLS Western Conference but failed to qualify for the play-offs last season after two consecutive appearances. Their previous Head of Analysis was Carlon Carpenter, who is now Lead Performance Analyst for Manchester United Women.
Carlon is also a TGG Member and you can see his profile HERE.
