Sam Stanton and Tim Lederer are to head up a revamped Scouting and Recruitment department at Southampton.

The Saints have undergone major changes behind the scenes in the wake of a humbling season in the Premier League.

Johannes Spors joined as Group Technical Director in February, with Elliott Stapley appointed Assistant Technical Director in May.

One of the priorities for owners Sport Republic has been to revamp scouting and recruitment. Darren Mowbray departed as Head of Recruitment in April and has now been replaced by the highly-regarded Stanton, who is promoted from Head of Scouting Operations.

Stanton (pictured) worked for Bristol City for seven years, latterly as their Head of Performance Analysis, before joining Southampton in January 2021, initially as Lead Scout for the South of England.

Lederer has joined from German side Hoffenheim, where he was Head of Emerging Talent (Under-17s to 23s). Meanwhile, Ben Chorley has been appointed Head of UK Scouting, having previously been Sporting Director at French side Valenciennes, who are also owned by Sport Republic.

As TGG reported last month, Nikola Ladan has joined as Head of International Scouting, having been International Football Scout for Genoa in Italy.

And Mariela Nisotaki, who will be speaking at TGG Live ’25 in October has joined from Norwich City as Head of Group Talent Acquisition.

Anthony Sheldon has joined as a Video Scout, having previously been a Software Engineer at Barclays and Head of Data Analytics and Scouting at National League side Dorking Wanderers FC.
