SPORTING DIRECTOR

Paul Winstanley

Nationality: English

Previously spent eight years with Brighton, latterly as Head of Recruitment. Played a major role in finding and developing talent for the Seagulls. Joined Chelsea in November 2022. Clubs say he will “oversee the entire sporting team, comprising talent, scouting, recruitment and data", along with Stewart.

Laurence Stewart

Nationality: English

Arrived from AS Monaco, where he was also Technical Director, in October 2022. Background is in recruitment and analysis, with Everton (as Senior Recruitment Co-ordinator), Manchester City (Head of Performance Analysis) and the Football Association (Performance Analyst). Was our guest on Episode #25 of the TGG Podcast.

DIRECTOR OF RECRUITMENT AND TALENT

Joe Shields

Nationality: English

Appointed in October 2022 after less than four months at Southampton, where he was Head of Senior Recruitment. Prior to that he spent nine years at Manchester City, initially as Academy Scouting Manager and then Head of Academy Recruitment and Talent Management. ’

DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL RECRUITMENT

Sam Jewell

Nationality: English

Joined Chelsea in May 2024. Had previously worked for Brighton for eight years. Started as Recruitment Manager for the U21s, before being promoted to Emerging Talent Manager in March 2019. In November 2022, was appointed Interim Head of Recruitment and then got the job on a permanent basis in February 2023. Son of former Premier League manager Paul Jewell.

HEAD COACH

Enzo Maresca

Nationality: Italian

Joined West Brom as an 18-year-old and went on to play for giants Juventus and Fiorentina in his homeland. Was Manchester City U23 boss before taking charge of Parma for a brief and ill-fated spell. Returned to City to become Pep Guardiola's assistant and played an important role as they won Treble in 2022/23. Took charge of Leicester in June 2023 and led them back to Premier League at first attempt. Then succeeded Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea boss in June 2024.

ASSISTANT

Roberto Vitiello

Nationality: Italian

Played alongside Maresca at Palmero from 2014 and 2016 during a career that took in 490 senior appearances. After retiring in 2020, started coaching at Fiorentina, before assisting Maresca at Parma. Duo were dismissed after just 14 games in charge. Then joined him at Leicester in 2023/24 and now Chelsea.

ASSISTANT

WILLY CABALLERO

Nationality: Argentine

Won Champions League, Europa League & FA Cup with Chelsea and the League Cup with Manchester City. Was a team-mate of Maresca's at Malaga in Spain. Played for Southampton for 18 months before joining Leicester in July 2023 and then returned to Chelsea in June 2024.

GOALKEEPER COACH

MICHELE DE BERNARDIN

Nationality: Italian

Coached with both the Academy and first team during four years at Parma, where he worked with Maresca. Was Goalkeeper Coach and First Team Coach with Sampdoria in 2022/23 before joining up with Maresca again at Leicester and then Chelsea.

FIRST-TEAM COACH

Danny Walker

Nationality: English

Maresca's assistant with Manchester City's U23s. Became Peterborough United's Senior Professional Development Phase Lead Coach in 2022/23, after Maresca had gone to Parma, and then reunited with him at Leicester.

HEAD OF GLOBAL GOALKEEPING

Ben Roberts

Nationality: English

Ex-Middlesbrough keeper joined Brighton's staff in June 2015 following coaching spells at Yeovil and Charlton. Holds a first-class degree in sports science and coaching. Moved to Chelsea with Graham Potter in September 2022 and remained under Frank Lampard, Mauricio Pochettino and now Enzo Maresca. Took on new title of Head of Global Goalkeeping when Maresca joined.

GOALKEEPER COACH

Henrique Hilario

Nationality: Portuguese

Made 39 appearances as a player between 2006 and 2014. Returned in 2016 as assistant goalkeeping coach under Antonio Conte.

GOALKEEPER COACH

James Russell

Nationality: English

Joined the club as a 14-year-old keeper and stayed until he was 20. Started his coaching career at Chelsea in 2009 and worked with the Academy before being promoted at the start of 2020/21.

SET PIECE COACH

Bernardo Cueva

Nationality: Mexican

Joined from Brentford in June 2024. Had the title of Strategic Analysis Manager with the Bees, although analysing and coaching set pieces represented a significant part of his work. Prior to that worked for Club Deportivo Guadalajara in Mexico.

DIRECTOR OF PERFORMANCE

Bryce Cavanagh

Nationality: Australian

Worked for the Football Association as Director of Performance for eight years before joining the Blues at the start of 2023/24. Worked in a range of sports before that, including (Munster and Melbourne Rebels), cricket (West Indies), netball (New South Wales) and Aussie Rules (Sydney Swans).

Nick Chadd

Nationality: English

Joined Chelsea in August 2023 from Benfica, where he was Head of Sport Science and Strength & Conditioning. Previously worked for Manchester City for almost four years, latterly as City Football Group's Lead Sports Scientist and S&C Coach.

FITNESS COACH

MARCOS ALVAREZ

Nationality: Spanish

First worked with Maresca at Parma and then went with him to Leicester and now Chelsea. Had previously worked at Tottenham under Juande Ramos, as well as at Sevilla, CSKA Moscow, Real Betis and SPAL in Italy's Serie B.

FITNESS COACH

Will Tullett

Nationality: English

Joined the first team as a fitness coach at the start of 2019/20, having previously been a movement specialist with the youth and senior teams for eight years.

LEAD SPORTS SCIENTIST

Chris Searle

Nationality: English

Joined the club in July 2016. Sports scientist with a high level of competence with data.

HEAD OF PERFORMANCE MEDICINE

Craig Roberts

Nationality: South African

Joined in July 2024 after eight years as Medical Director at Bournemouth. The South African had previously spent more than 15 years working in rugby union in his homeland, first as a Team Physician with the Sharks and then as Team Doctor for the Springboks.

Stephen Lewis

Nationality: English

One of the most experienced doctors in English football, having worked for Fulham for 12 years in two separate spells and for Brighton for eight. Joined Chelsea in summer of 2024.

REHAB PHYSIO

Fearghal Kerin

Nationality: Irish

Joined in January 2023 following restructure that saw Paco Biosca, Thierry Laurent, Jason Palmer and Jon Fearn leave the club. Previously Rehab Physio with Leinster Rugby for eight-and-a-half years.

Nationality: English

Worked in Chelsea's Academy for 16 years before being promoted to First Team in summer of 2023.

Stuart Vaughan

Nationality: English

Joined Chelsea in 2006 and has worked in their Academy, with their loans team and with their women's team. Moved across to the men's team in December 2022.

PERFORMANCE PHYSIO

Ed Richmond

Nationality: English

Joined in February 2024 from Leicester City, where he had worked for two years. Prior to the Foxes was with Crystal Palace for five-and-a-half years, latterly as their Head Physio. Also worked for the Wales national team from 2017 to 2019.

Meirion Jones

Nationality: Welsh

Joined Chelsea in summer of 2024. Previously worked in Australia, for Essendon in Aussie Rules, and for Melbourne Storm in Rugby League. Started his career in Rugby League in England, with Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Tykes.

Stu Sullivan

Nationality: English

With Chelsea since 2004. Worked with England at 2010 World Cup.

HEAD OF PERFORMANCE INSIGHTS

Richard Akenhead

Nationality: English

Took up this new role in February 2024. Had previously worked for the Football Association for several years, becoming Head of Insights for the men's senior team in June 2023. This is where he worked under Cavanagh, who is now his boss at Chelsea.

DATA AND ANALYSIS LEAD

Matt Hallam

Nationality: English

Keeps a low profile but has become an important figure at the club. Started as an intern in 2011, having previously completed a psychology degree at Loughborough. Then developed a scouting database for the Blues. Promoted to current role in January 2023 by Chairman Todd Boehly.

ANALYST

Javier Molina Caballero

Nationality: Spanish

Brought to Leicester by Maresca, with whom he had worked at Parma, and then part of the team that followed to Chelsea. Has also worked at a number of Spanish clubs, including Atletico Madrid.

With the club since 2005, having previously worked for Prozone.

Nationality: English

Joined Chelsea in December 2007 from Wolves. Has also worked for Aston Villa.

Nationality: English

Has been in post since August 2016, having join Chelsea as an intern in 2011.

Has been specialising in goalkeeping analysis since 2016 - first with Bournemouth, then Brighton and now Chelsea.

Joined in April 2023, having previously worked for sports forecasting company Angstrom, which specialises in odds generation, trading and risk management in US sports.

Previously worked in retail analytics for RI in Richmond, Surrey. Joined Chelsea in June 2019.

Nationality: English

LOAN TECHNICAL COACH

Carlo Cudicini

Nationality: Italian

Chelsea's first-choice keeper until arrival of Petr Cech in 2004/5. Appointed assistant when Antonio Conte arrived at the club. Switched to loan player technical coach in the summer of 2019.
