Former Tottenham Head of Medicine and Sports Science Geoff Scott has been appointed as Nottingham Forest’s new Director of Performance.

The New Zealander was Tottenham’s longest-serving member of backroom staff and served under 11 permanent managers before exiting in August 2024. His departure followed differences of opinion with Ange Postecoglou about the structural and operational direction of the club’s performance department.

After Scott’s exit, Tottenham suffered a significant increase in injuries in the 2024/25 season, contributing to a 17th-placed finish in the Premier League.

Scott (pictured above with Harry Kane) has been hired by Forest’s Global Sporting Director Edu, with a mandate of modernising and strengthening the club’s medical and performance framework, enhancing player durability and building an integrated department.

The Brazilian has made a strategic overhaul of the club’s medical and performance operations one of his key objectives.

Scott first joined Tottenham in June 2004 from Fulham, where he had been Senior First Team Physio. For 14 years, he was Head Physio, before being promoted to Head of Medicine and Sports Science in 2018.

His career had started as physio for the Fiji football team and then Auckland Rugby Union in his native New Zealand. During his time at Tottenham he worked with managers Jacques Santini, Martin Jol, Juande Ramos, Harry Redknapp, Andre Villas-Boas, Tim Sherwood, Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte and Postecoglou.

Prithish Narayan has exited as Forest’s Head of Medical after two-and-a-half years to return to the NHS.
