Damian Roden has left his role as Head of Performance at Burnley after 18 months.

The experienced practitioner, who has been Head of Sport Science at Manchester City, Stoke City, Wales, Minnesota United, Anderlecht and Wales, arrived at Burnley in August 2024.

He took over from David Rhodes, who subsequently became Senior Director of Performance Services at Washington Spirit in America’s National Women’s Soccer League.

Roden had a close relationship with former Burnley boss Vincent Kompany and Assistant Craig Bellamy, with whom he had worked for Manchester City, Anderlecht and, in the case of Bellamy, for Wales.

This was how the Burnley move came about, although Kompany and Bellamy subsequently left Turf Moor and Scott Parker took over.

Matt Radcliffe, who arrived at Turf Moor at the same time as Roden, is Burnley’s Head of Player Performance and Medical. Radcliffe has previously worked in medical for clubs including Middlesbrough, Manchester United, Fenerbahce and Seattle Sounders.

Ritson Lloyd, the former Head Physio at Swansea City, is Lead Physio. Burnley confirmed Roden’s departure when contacted by TGG but did not give further details.
