QPR Women’s Head Coach Danny Harrigan has left the role after two years to take up a post in the club’s Academy.

Harrigan has been involved with the club’s women’s and girls’ set-up for 15 years, but the club now want to use his experience to coach the schoolboy age groups in their bid to become a Category One Academy.

Harrigan told the club’s website: “QPR has been such a massive part of my life and I want to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to be part of a really exciting period ahead for the Academy.

“It has also given me such pride to be our first-ever women’s Head Coach as we strive to reach the third tier of the pyramid.

“While I will now be serving the club in a different role, I will still be the girls’ biggest supporter.”

Club chief executive Christian Nourry said: “Danny’s expertise is clear and, as a club, we want to best utilise this in line with our aspirations to hold a Category One Academy.

“Danny is a big part of QPR who fully understands our club-wide ambitions and we feel his strengths will be hugely important in our efforts to obtain Cat One status.

“It is an exciting time for every facet of the football club – including the women’s team as we continue to look to climb the pyramid.

“The search is already under way for Danny’s successor to help us achieve that.”

QPR Women are currently fifth in the 12-team FA Women’s National League Division One South East – the fourth tier of women’s football.
