Biography

With 7+ years in software development, 5+ years of football coaching and a lifetime of football fandom, Peter Hassard is an emerging football analyst whose side projects are edging closer to the professional stage. Armed with an MSc in Data Science, a BSc in Computing and a BSc in Mathematics & Statistics, Peter blends deep technical expertise with an obsessive love for the game.

His academic journey includes publishing an IEEE paper titled “Predicting Football Match Outcomes Using Event Data and Machine Learning Algorithms” – a project that laid the foundations for his interest in predictive modelling, contextual event analysis and game-state dynamics.

Peter’s “football brain” received another boost in 2024 when he completed the Soccermatics Pro course with Twelve Football Analytics. He is also a regular attendee of Training Ground Guru’s live masterclasses on Monday nights, helping him stay sharp on modern analysis workflows, tracking data, tactical modelling and cutting-edge decision science used across elite football.

He believes the future of football lies where prediction meets categorisation – using data not only to forecast in-game events, but to tell richer stories about how teams behave, why moments emerge, and where competitive edges can be found.

Working with open data from StatsBomb, SkillCorner, Hudl, Wyscout and more, Peter specialises in rapidly prototyping tools and visuals. Whether it’s building a Streamlit app, crafting a Power BI dashboard or constructing a full modelling pipeline, he brings both speed and creativity to his projects.
