
Pitch to the Pros 2: Your chance for feedback from industry experts

Pitch to the Pros is back, offering Analytics Members the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of industry experts, with the winning entry published on TGG.
The first Pitch to the Pros launched in the spring and the final was won by Jeffrey Eyestone, who presented a new metric to “revolutionise goalkeeper analytics”.

An impressed Professor David Sumpter, who led the judging panel, told Eyestone: “You said you were going to revolutionise goalkeeping and you weren’t joking!”
The final saw a quartet of Analytics Members each deliver a 10-minute presentations. Afterwards, Sumpter said: “The level of this is very, very high – higher than you see in many clubs. We’ve seen all aspects of the game as well, so I’m a bit overwhelmed.”
If you want to enter Pitch to the Pros 2, the process is as follows:
- Send in a short (200 word) description of your work. This can be anything that uses data to give insight into the game. For example, final presentations for Pitch to the Pros 1 included The quickest passers of the ball and Measuring the moments that break structure. Submit your idea to info@trainingground.guru
- We will put together a shortlist of four to prepare a 5-10 minute presentation.
- December 1st at 7pm UK: The final! Chance to present your work and get feedback from our panel, led by Professor David Sumpter and David Laszlo.
- The best presentation (as decided by the panel) will have a write up on the TGG website.
This time we are also offering additional sessions to help Analytics Members develop their ideas prior to submission:
- Start-up: Monday October 27th at 7pm UK – receive help to get going with your idea.
- Feedback: Monday November 3rd at 7pm UK – keep you on the right track.
