Norwich Academy Manager Shulberg joins Rapid Vienna

Norwich City Academy Manager Joe Shulberg has been appointed as Assistant to former Canaries boss Johannes Hoff Thorup at Austrian side Rapid Vienna.
Shulberg, 35, joined the Canaries in July 2017 from Yeovil Town’s youth ranks. He started as an Academy coach and rose up the ranks to become a Lead Coach and then Academy Head of Coaching.
In July 2023 he was promoted to Academy Manager and stepped up to Thorup’s first-team coaching staff on an interim basis in September 2024, serving for eight games.
Thorup was appointed Rapid Vienna boss at the end of 2025 and has already appointed former Norwich Analyst Alan Arac to his staff.
Highly-regarded Shulberg signed a contract with the Austrian side today. Head of Football Development Dean Rastrick, the former Tottenham Academy Manager who joined Norwich as Head of Football Development in July 2024, is now expected to take on Shulberg’s duties.
It is not clear whether Norwich will look to appoint a replacement for Shulberg at this stage. The Category one Canaries have placed 19th in the last two editions of TGG’s Academy Productivity Rankings, for 2023/24 and 2024/25.
