Former Tottenham Physio Stephen McAleer has joined Chelsea as the Blues continue to revamp their medical department.
McAleer was Rehab Physio for Spurs from 2018 to 2021 and has been working at Red Bull’s Athlete Performance Centre in Salzburg for the last three years.
His role there has been linking the group’s teams – New York, Leipzig, Bragantino and Salzburg – in terms of their medical and therapy teams.
At Chelsea he replaces Fearghal Kerin as Rehab Physio. Kerin left the Blues earlier this month after two years.
As TGG has previously reported, Chelsea have split their physio team between rehab and performance. The Rehab Physio focuses on injured players and helping them towards full fitness, while the Performance Physio focuses on the matchday squad, often working pitchside, as well as on prehab (injury prevention).
This summer Chelsea appointed Dr Craig Roberts as their Head of Performance Medicine and Stephen Lewis as Team Doctor, while also hiring Meirion Jones as Lead Performance Therapist.

Writing on LinkedIn, McAleer said: “After almost four fantastic years in Austria, I’m excited to share that I’ve accepted a new role to join Chelsea Football Club as the Lead of Performance Rehabilitation.
“Excited to join a great team and for the road that lies ahead. Let’s gooooooo!”
