Adam Lawrence has returned to Manchester United as Under-21s Lead until the end of the season – five months after leaving for Newcastle United.
Lawrence joined the Magpies on September 1st after almost five years at Manchester United, before stepping down at the start of this month.
Announcing his exit from Newcastle on LinkedIn, he had written: “After being at the club for a short period of time this was a really difficult decision to make. However, there are times in life where you have to make tough choices and this is one of those moments.
“I look forward to exploring potential opportunities that are out there for me.”
During his previous stint at Old Trafford, Lawrence led Manchester United’s U18s to a double of the Premier League and Premier League Cup in 2023/24. United’s U21s Lead role was vacated when Travis Binnion was promoted to the first-team coaching set-up earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher will remain in charge of the U18s, as well as taking on additional responsibilities by leading the Professional Development Phase (U17s to U21s) for the remainder of 2025/26.
Fletcher took charge of the senior team for two games at the start of the month following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.
