Job description

We’re looking to appoint a new Recruitment Player Analyst to join us at Barnsley Football Club. You will have a deep love of football with vast knowledge and enthusiasm for the game. In your role you will use video and data analysis to identify and monitor potential players of interest for the Club’s First Team.

You will be an independent decision maker, able to think critically and discuss tactical and technical details in depth and help to identify potential new players for the Club.

Duties will include:

• Production of detailed written reports on recommended players using Wyscout and Hudl footage, referencing appropriate data points.

• Analysis and interpretation of relevant metrics, including the Club’s in-house data system, to help identify and profile players.

• Updating the Department’s database to track and monitor players

• Attendance at matches to build knowledge and support the overall recruitment process.

Person specification

Essential:

• You will have a real love of football, and great enthusiasm for the game.

• Willingness and desire to improve your footballing knowledge both tactically and analytically.

• An independent decision maker, able to think rationally and critically.

Desirable:

• Outstanding football knowledge, with the ability to analyse and discuss tactical and technical details.

• Excellent player knowledge. Familiar with incumbent players and clubs through the UK’s footballing pyramid and abroad.

• Excellent written communication skills. Able to produce thorough, high-quality pieces of concise written work.

• Comfortable in analysing large datasets to improve our knowledge and understanding of players.

• An approachable team player who’s able to share and receive ideas and work seamlessly with others.
