The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced candidate to join the Academy Coaching Team at Norwich City Football Club in the role of Head of Youth Development Phase (YDP).

The role of the Head of YDP is fundamental to the long-term vision of Norwich City Football Club in identifying and developing the best young players for the Club. The role will further enhance our Category 1 Academy structure in line with the Premier League Elite Player Performance Plan.

In summary, the Head of YDP will be responsible for leading the Coaching and Operations functions within the Under 13 to Under 16 age groups.

Key tasks/ responsibilities:

 Include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the implementation of the Norwich City Academy coaching & playing philosophy across the U13-U16 age groups.
  • Producing regular reports, utilising data and statistical analysis to monitor and inform player progress.
  • Line managing coaching staff in conjunction with the Head of Academy Coaching within the U13-U16 age groups, conducting performance reviews in line with club policy and supporting them to achieve KPI’s relating to their age group.
  • Managing the U13-U16 Games Programme, ensuring full engagement with Premier League Category One fixtures, Premier League Competitions and Events and sourcing of additional fixtures where necessary including the tours & tournaments programme.
  • Linking in with the Head of Academy Operations to lead on all operational aspects of the football programme within the U13-U16 age groups, including but not limited to, match day management, fixture logistics and facility management.
  • Supporting the Head of Academy Coaching with management of the coaching department budget.
  • Supporting the Head of Academy Coaching to ensure the coaching department meets all the necessary criteria relating to the PGAAC audit.
  • Leading regular multi-disciplinary meetings for the U13-U16 age groups ensuring collaboration across all departments.
  • Leading the 6/12 week review process within the U13-U16 age groups ensuring all players receive regular, structured feedback on their individual development.

Qualifications/ experience:

All applicants should have the following qualifications/experience:

  • Extensive experience of the EPPP (Academy Manager, PL/EFL Club support or equivalent)
  • Degree/Masters/Postgraduate
  • UEFA A Licence
  • FA Advanced Youth Award
  • FA Emergency First Aid in Football
  • FA Safeguarding Qualification

Other:

  • Hours of work will be 40 hours a week, agreed with Line Manager to be conducted over days necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role.
  • The role will involve working unsociable hours. Regular evening and weekend work is a standard requirement of the role.
  • You may be asked to undertake additional duties to those above, either on a temporary or permanent basis, which the Club reasonably believes you are capable of carrying out, or for which you will be trained.
  • Relevant professional, ethical and health and safety standards apply to this role.
  • You may be required to travel between Carrow Road and Colney Training Centre or other Club sites so a full driving license is essential. 
  • This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check with children’s barred list.
