Job function

To lead the men’s first team performance analysis department, reporting to the Sporting Directors and working closely with the Men’s First Team Head Coach and coaching staff.

This position will lead on the performance analysis process, providing in-depth analysis and insight on matches and players that can influence coaching and drive high performance to ensure the men’s first team remain competitive at an elite level.    

Main responsibilities

  • Lead, oversee and drive forward the performance analysis provision within the Men’s First Team in line with our coaching philosophy and club vision
  • Organise and lead a team of analysts; co-ordinating roles within the team to provide functional and high-performance workflows that can support the coaching team in all aspects of performance analysis
  • Responsibility to provide actionable in-depth and detailed analysis / insights on team and player level in core areas such as technical and tactical opposition analysis, set piece analysis, training analysis, in-game and post-match analysis
  • Manage service providers/ contracts
  • Lead on new innovations, technology and solutions
  • Manage, maintain and embrace departmental relationships and collaborations across the club
  • Ability to lead a flexible and agile department that can respond to new challenges, requirements and projects

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Performance analysis, Sports Science or other equivalent sports-related field

Experience and skills

Essential

  • Significant experience working in a similar role within performance analysis, with team leadership experience – experience of leading and managing a high performing team
  • Strong understanding of workflows in the following areas; reviewing performance on a team / player level, opponent analysis, in-game analysis, post-match analysis, training analysis, player development, use of technology to create solutions
  • Proficient in all industry standard analysis suites / software’s
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate roles and workflows within the department
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills that are clear and engaging
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of football
  • An adept problem solver, with ability to adapt and propose new solutions and quickly respond to new challenges
  • A good relationship builder, creating both a positive working environment and high-performance culture

Desirable

  • Prior experience at an elite football level
  • Recognised UEFA coaching qualifications (beneficial)
