These developments also bring a great opportunity to further improve our women’s team and youth setup overall.

Key off-field appointments have recently been made in business operations, ticketing, and partnerships to continue our efforts in improving the experience for our supporters.

Main duties

  • Work within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide elite medical services to 1st Team players.
  • Liaise with Head of Performance and Medicine and other medical and performance staff regarding player availability, injury status, and rehabilitation plans.
  • Provide preventative player care services via player profiling, pre-participation screening, prophylactic interventions, and lifestyle evaluation to maximize the health and performance of players.
  • Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning and neuromuscular evaluation skills to properly diagnose acute and chronic injuries.
  • Deliver manual therapy and exercise-based therapeutic interventions for both acute and chronic injury rehabilitation.
  • Monitor individual player objective markers to create bespoke recovery and performance management plans.
  • Participate as an emergency responder to initiate care and deliver emergency first aid services within scope of practice in a pre-hospital setting.
  • Defensibly document timely and accurate medical records within an electronic medical records system to memorialize medical service provision and to provide for a continuity of care.
  • Accompanying players to medical appointments as required.
  • Undertake Continuous Professional Development.
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks directed by the Head of Performance and Medicine.

Key competencies

  • Experience of working with elite athletes
  • More than 5 years’ experience of sports medicine
  • Experience of working in a professional sports environment
  • Knowledge of sound injury prevention strategies
  • Knowledge of screening/profiling elite athletes
  • Interest in undertaking Sports Medicine research
  • IT Skills – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated with an excellent work ethic
  • A team player
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Ability to work unsupervised
 

Key qualifications

Essential

  • BSc or MSc in Sports Therapy and registration with the Society of Sports Therapy or a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and registration with CSP & HCPC.
  • FA ATTMiF Qualification or equivalent.

Desirable

  • MSc in Sports Medicine or equivalent.
  • FA Learning Safeguarding Children Workshop attendee (or renewal) in the last three years.
