Matt Jackson has been promoted to Technical Director by Wolves, replacing Domenico Teti.
Jackson moves from the role of Director of Player Recruitment and Development, which he started in June and which led to him joining the club’s five-man Leadership Team.
In his new role, Jackson will support Executive Chairman Jeff Shi alongside Director of Football Operations and Administration Matt Wild, Director of Performance Phil Hayward and PR and Communications Director Max Fitzgerald.
The move follows the departure of Director of Professional Football Domenico Teti earlier this month, just two days after the club had parted company with Head Coach Vitor Pereira.
Jackson is in his second spell working at the club. He initially joined in May 2021 as English football’s first Strategic Player Marketing Manager – a role he kept until June 2023, when he left to become President of partner club Grasshoppers of Zurich.
Jackson then returned to Molineux in February 2024 as Head of Professional Football Development, before moving into his recruitment and development role in the summer. This involved overseeing the club’s Academy and Women’s teams.
“It’s a great challenge for me and a real honour to help the club,” he said. “I don’t think there are too many who have played, had long careers on the pitch and then done all of the roles off the pitch.
“Obviously, coaching tends to be a natural progression for players, but I’ve been the other way really. I’ve always been more stimulated by the business side of the game. Scott (Sellars) first brought me in and then I worked for ‘Hobbsy’ (Matt Hobbs). After that I worked closely with Domenico (Teti) up until recent times, so I’ve seen all the departments of the football club.
“I had a brief spell going over to Grasshoppers, which was a brilliant responsibility for me, and a tough challenge, but one we came through pretty well at the time, but this is a whole new challenge again.”
Jackson played more than 500 senior games in a 17-year professional career with Luton Town, Everton, Norwich City, Wigan Athletic and Watford and won 10 England Under-21 caps.
