Former Manchester United Head Physio Robin Sadler has joined Liverpool as Dr Jonathan Power continues to revamp the club’s medical and performance department.
Sadler left United in February after three years as part of a restructure led by Head of Sports Medicine Gary O’Driscoll. He had reported to three different Managers – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag – and was part of the team that won the 2023 Carabao Cup and reached the final of the 2021 Europa League.
Power, who joined in April 2023, is taking a strategic overview of a unified medical and performance department and has made a series of changes following the departure of Manager Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.
Chris Black has joined as Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach, Clare Farrell as Lead Performance Nutritionist and Dr Amit Pannu as First Team Doctor, while Conall Murtagh has been promoted to Head of Physical Performance. Lee Nobes has taken on the title of Head Rebab Physio and Chris Morgan has become Head Performance Physio.
Sadler was First Team Physio at Manchester City for 16 years and Head Physio at Derby County for four years before joining Manchester United in January 2021. After leaving Old Trafford, he worked for Rangers as a consultant physio for three months during the summer.
“There are some excellent sports medicine practitioners here at Liverpool. It’s exciting to work here and to see what we can try to achieve together,” he said.
“My role is primarily to work and support performance to enable players to fulfil their potential both in training and out on the pitch on a matchday.”
