Started his career at Falkirk and moved to Watford and Huddersfield before joining Southampton in 2015, initially as Director of Scouting and Recruitment and then Director of Football Operations. Appointed to new role of Chief Football Officer by Nottingham Forest in April 2023 before Newcastle triggered his release clause in October 2025.

Sudarshan Gopaladesikan

Technical Director

Joined the club in July 2025 to lead their football data operations and implement data-informed practices across all sporting departments in the men’s, women’s and Academy teams. Arrived after three seasons at Italian club Atalanta, where he was Director of Football Inteligence. His football career started in Portugal with Benfica, where he was their Head of Sports Data Science for five years. Before moving into football, he was a Program Manager for Microsoft.

Matthias Jaissle

Head Coach

Replaced the long-serving Eddie Howe in August 2026. Arrived from Saudi side Al-Ahli, who he led to back-to-back AFC Champions League titles. Was previously in charge of RB Salzburg – winning the Austrian Bundesliga title twice and the Austrian Cup once. On appointment, was the Premier League’s second youngest boss at 38.

Alexander Hauser

Assistant Coach

Appointed by Matthias Jaissle in August 2026 having worked with him before. The pair first linked up in January 2021 at Austrian side FC Liefering and Hauser followed Jaissle to Red Bull Salzburg, staying on when Jaissle left in 2023 before rejoining him at Al-Ahli in the summer of 2024. Spent part of his youth playing career with Rangers, but played professionally in Austria.

Joined as part of Matthias Jaissle’s coaching team in August 2026, having been an Assistant Coach with him at Al-Ahli. Previously coached youth teams for the German Football Association and also at Union Berlin.

Assistant Coach

Appointed in August 2026 after seven months at Al-Ahli alongside Matthias Jaissle, who he worked with previously at both FC Liefering and Red Bull Salzburg. Also had a brief spell as Assistant Coach at Cercle Brugge.

Coach/Analyst

Another coach to have joined in August 2026 with Matthias Jaissle, having worked with him before at Red Bull Salzburg and Al-Ahli. Previously worked as a Match Analyst at the Red Bull Football Academy for three years.

Alexander Bade

Goalkeeper Coach

Joined Newcastle in August 2026 with Matthias Jaissle, who had appointed him his Goalkeeper Coach at Al-Ahli in 2023. Previously coached at FC Koln, Borussia Dortmund, Austria Wien, Ferencvaros and Viktoria Koln. Played as a goalkeeper in Germany for clubs including FC Koln and KFC Uerdingen.

Former ‘keeper who’s heavily experienced in the EFL and non-league. Head of Goalkeeping at Stockport County prior to joining the Magpies in October 2022.

Senior Physio

Worked with Howe and Tindall at Bournemouth, where he was Head of Academy Sport Science and Medicine and then First Team Physio. Joined Leicester as First Team Rehab Physio in July 2021 before moving onto Newcastle in February 2024.

Ran his own clinic – as well as consulting with West Ham and Tottenham – before joining the Magpies in 2016.

Appointed in July 2024, having previously worked under Mitchell at AS Monaco. Described by the Sporting Director as ‘best in class’ and will oversee Performance, Medical, Sports Science, Nutrition and Psychology. Has an incredible CV, having been Head of Athletic Development at Southampton, Head of Elite Performance at the Premier League, Director of High Performance for US Soccer and Director of Performance at AS Monaco.

Former Hereford United player worked with Swansea City and then the Wales national team. Then had five years with England and Gareth Southgate. Had a short stint back with the Wales men’s senior team before joining the Magpies in October 2023.

First Team Sports Therapist

Joined in January 2026 from Ipswich Town, where she had worked for almost 12-and-a-half years. Was a part-time First Team Sports Therapist for a year at Norwich City, while also working in Ipswich’s Academy. Promoted to Player Care Manager at Ipswich in January 2020 before moving up again in August 2021 to become First Team Sports Therapist.

Michael Emmerson

Was a trainee with York City, although he never made a senior appearance for the Minstermen. Internship with Chelsea led to a full-time job with them in December 2013, as Lead U18s Performance Analyst and Loan Player Analyst. Became U23s Lead Analyst and then Head of Academy Performance Analysis. Joined Newcastle as First Team Performance Analyst in August 2022 and promoted to current role in July 2023. Charged with building a “world-leading data and insight department, made up of Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Data Engineers, to support the club in using data to underpin decision making and drive value in the transfer market.”

Was a Community Coach with the Newcastle United Foundation before joining the football club as an Academy Analyst in July 2009. Promoted to first team duties in 2015 and to Head of Performance Analysis in 2017.
