Paul Winstanley

Sporting Director

Previously spent eight years with Brighton, latterly as Head of Recruitment. Played a major role in finding and developing talent for the Seagulls. Joined Chelsea in November 2022. Clubs say he will “oversee the entire sporting team, comprising talent, scouting, recruitment and data”, along with Stewart.

Arrived from AS Monaco, where he was also Technical Director, in October 2022. Background is in recruitment and analysis, with Everton (as Senior Recruitment Co-ordinator), Manchester City (Head of Performance Analysis) and the Football Association (Performance Analyst). Was our guest on Episode #25 of the TGG Podcast.

Director of Recruitment and Talent

Appointed in October 2022 after less than four months at Southampton, where he was Head of Senior Recruitment. Prior to that he spent nine years at Manchester City, initially as Academy Scouting Manager and then Head of Academy Recruitment and Talent Management.

Sam Jewell

Director of Global Recruitment

Joined Chelsea in May 2024. Had previously worked for Brighton for eight years. Started as Recruitment Manager for the U21s, before being promoted to Emerging Talent Manager in March 2019. In November 2022, was appointed Interim Head of Recruitment and then got the job on a permanent basis in February 2023. Son of former Premier League manager Paul Jewell.

Dave Fallows

Football Development Lead

Joined in November 2025 to become part of the club’s five-man leadership structure. Focuses on scouting and data, loans and player pathways, and “overall football staff development and evolution”. He was previously Director of Scouting and Recruitment at Liverpool, who he joined in 2012, after working for Manchester City, Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers.

Liam Rosenior

Head Coach

After a 16-year playing career, transitioned into coaching as First Team Coach at Derby County in July 2019. Went on to become Head Coach at Hull City from 2022 to 2024. Took them from relegation strugglers to highest league finish in seven years (7th in the Championship). In July 2024, became Head Coach of Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, leading them to European qualification. Joined Chelsea in January 2026.

Justin Walker

Assistant

Made more than 300 Football League appearances as a player and moved into coaching with Derby County’s Academy in 2009. Promoted to first-team set-up under Phillip Cocu as Development Coach and then part of a caretaker management team along with Rosenior. Moved with Rosenior to Hull City in November 2022 and then to Strasbourg in July 2024. A Pro Licence coach.

Kalifa Cisse

First Team Coach

Former pro footballer who played alongside Rosenior at Reading from 2007 to 2010. Praised the Englishman for helping him adapt to England. Moved into coaching with Bristol City in 2019 before rejoining Rosenior at Strasbourg in July 2024.

Calum McFarlane

First Team Coach

Joined from Southampton in July 2025. Initially U21s Assistant but was quickly promoted to Head Coach following Filipe Coelho’s departure to RC Strasbourg. Took caretaker charge of first team after sacking of Enzo Maresca and then remained on Rosenior’s staff.

Ben Roberts

Head of Global Goalkeeping

Ex-Middlesbrough keeper joined Brighton’s staff in June 2015 following coaching spells at Yeovil and Charlton. Holds a first-class degree in sports science and coaching. Moved to Chelsea with Graham Potter in September 2022 and remained under Frank Lampard, Mauricio Pochettino and now Enzo Maresca. Took on new title of Head of Global Goalkeeping when Maresca joined.

Assistant Head of Goalkeeping

Joined from Arsenal, where he was Head of Academy Goalkeeping, in February 2025. Had previously worked at Inter Miami and England Women with Phil Neville and with Brighton before that.

Goalkeeper Coach

Joined the club as a 14-year-old keeper and stayed until he was 20. Started his coaching career at Chelsea in 2009 and worked with the Academy before being promoted at the start of 2020/21.

Bernardo Cueva

Set Piece Coach

Joined from Brentford in June 2024. Had the title of Strategic Analysis Manager with the Bees, although analysing and coaching set pieces represented a significant part of his work. Prior to that worked for Club Deportivo Guadalajara in Mexico.

Bryce Cavanagh

Director of Performance

Worked for the Football Association as Director of Performance for eight years before joining the Blues at the start of 2023/24. Worked in a range of sports before that, including (Munster and Melbourne Rebels), cricket (West Indies), netball (New South Wales) and Aussie Rules (Sydney Swans).

Head of Performance Services

Joined Chelsea in August 2023 from Benfica, where he was Head of Sport Science and Strength & Conditioning. Previously worked for Manchester City for almost four years, latterly as City Football Group’s Lead Sports Scientist and S&C Coach.

Lead Physical Performance Coach

Joined in February 2025 from Rangers, where he was Head of Performance. Has also been Athletic Development and Reconditioning Coach at Brighton, Head of Fitness at Hearts and First Team Fitness Coach at West Ham.

Physical Performance Coach

Former Head of Performance at Nottingham Forest and Swansea City. Also worked under Steve Cooper for the Football Association, winning the U17 World Cup with England in 2017. Worked with Cavanagh at The FA.

Sports Scientist

Was a player at Chelsea’s Academy before moving into sport science. Joined Tottenham as an S&C coach with the women’s team in July 2017 before landing a full-time role at the club the following year. Promoted to first-team duties in November 2020. Joined Chelsea in November 2023.

Joined Chelsea in August 2024. Previous experience as a Data Analyst with the Football Association and STATSports and founded Cre8 Labs, which is focused on data-informed storytelling in sport.

Head of Performance Medicine

Joined in July 2024 after eight years as Medical Director at Bournemouth. The South African had previously spent more than 15 years working in rugby union in his homeland, first as a Team Physician with the Sharks and then as Team Doctor for the Springboks.

Joined Chelsea in summer of 2024. Previously worked in Australia, for Essendon in Aussie Rules, and for Melbourne Storm in Rugby League. Started his career in Rugby League in England, with Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Tykes.

Took up this new role in February 2024. Had previously worked for the Football Association for several years, becoming Head of Insights for the men’s senior team in June 2023. This is where he worked under Cavanagh, who is now his boss at Chelsea.

Worked for Academies at Crystal Palace, Manchester City and Tottenham before becoming Lead First Team Analyst and Scouting Co-Ordinator at Watford from 2021 to 2023. The UEFA A Licence coach then joined Gary O’Neil at Wolves as First Team Coach-Analyst in September 2023, lasting 15 months.

Keeps a low profile but has become an important figure at the club. Started as an intern in 2011, having previously completed a psychology degree at Loughborough. Then developed a scouting database for the Blues. Promoted to current role in January 2023 by Chairman Todd Boehly.

After a two-year spell with Nottingham Forest, worked at Derby County, rising through the ranks to become Head of Analysis. This is where he got to know Rosenior and went with him to Hull City, Strasbourg and now Chelsea.

Joined from Middlesbrough, where he held the same role, in December 2024. Has also worked for Rangers and Sheffield United.

Sachin Gupta

Chief Analytics Officer

Joined in November 2024 from the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he was Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. Also worked with the Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons during 18 years in the NBA. In 2006, he created the ‘NBA Trade Machine’ for ESPN, allowing users to assume the role of a General Manager and assess which player trades were possible under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Led Barcelona’s sports analytics department from February 2016 to June 2021, before joining Zelus Analytics. Has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and joined Chelsea in February 2025. Appointment regarded as a coup for the club.

Chelsea’s first-choice keeper until arrival of Petr Cech in 2004/5. Appointed assistant when Antonio Conte arrived at the club. Switched to loan player technical coach in the summer of 2019.

Player Support and Development Officer

Retiring from rugby league with Wigan Warriors in January 2025, having helped them win four major trophies in 2024. Wigan Head Coach Matt Peet said: “I don’t expect the supporters to ever physically see the impact he has at Chelsea. But he is a cultural architect. He will make the environment better and all the individuals around the environment better.”
