Clark leaves Spurs to become West Ham’s Head of Medical
Richard Clark has left Spurs after four years to become Head of Medical at West Ham.
In September 2022, Clark was appointed Lead Rehabilitation Physiotherapist at Spurs, where he described his role as having “oversight of injury rehab plans and pathways for all injured players”, as well as “co-ordinating the MDT centring around a player’s injury rehabilitation”. He also provided “matchday support on a rotational basis” with members of the Performance Physio team and supported first-team players “with training preparation and recovery strategies”.
Clark’s football career started as an Academy Physiotherapist for Fulham for nearly three years and he also spent more than six-and-a-half years at Brentford, with more than half of that time as First Team Performance Physiotherapist.
After leaving the Bees he spent almost five years as Clinical Lead for the Royal Ballet.
Clark replaces Adam Paxton, who had been Head Physiotherapist for English National Ballet before joining West Ham in September 2021.
Paxton was promoted to become the Hammers’ Head Physiotherapist in June 2022 and Head of Medical in November 2024 and has now become Rehabilitation Specialist at Brooklyn Nets basketball team.
