David Wright has left his role as Brighton’s Academy Recruitment Manager after six years as the Premier League club continue to undergo big changes behind the scenes.

As TGG has reported in recent week, there have been significant changes to the Seagulls’ scouting and recruitment department, at both senior and Academy level.

Senior Scouting Manager Pete Bulmer, Centre Forward Scouting Manager John Doolan and Emerging Talent Manager Charlie Hutton were all made redundant by the club last month.

Earlier this week we revealed that Goalkeeper Scouting Manager Alex Ramsay had left after 17 months to become Head of National Goalkeeping for Wales.

In addition, Academy Recruitment Operations Co-ordinator Noah Hustler announced his exit last week and Nathan Marshall, Academy Recruitment Operations Manager (15s to 21s), has been appointed Academy Head of Recruitment at Wycombe Wanderers.

Now we can reveal that Wright has exited after six years. He joined in January 2019 and set up the Academy’s national recruitment structure, revamped local recruitment and helped bring in players including Evan Ferguson.

Brighton are fourth in the Premier League this season (behind Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal) for minutes for *homegrown players this season, with 13.1% of their minutes going to club-trained players.

A club-trained player is defined as one who has been with the club for at least three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21.
