New Huddersfield manager Lee Grant has added three Assistant Coaches to his backroom team.

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson has returned to the club from Liverpool, Paul McShane has arrived from Manchester United and Jonathan Robinson has come in from Saudi side Al-Ettifaq.

Bridge-Wilkinson was previously with the Terriers from August 2012 to October 2015 working with the club’s Youth Development Phase players before leaving to join Liverpool. In almost 10 years in the Academy at Anfield, he coached the Under-14s, the Under-16s and then – from May 2020 – the Under-18s and played a big role in the development of players such as Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah and Tyler Morton.

As a player, he made more than 400 senior appearances as a midfielder for Derby County, Port Vale, Stockport County, Bradford City, Carlisle United and Darlington, winning the Football League Trophy and FA Trophy.

McShane was at Manchester United as a coach for four years. This included a season as a Player-Coach with the Under-23 side and other spells as Under-18s Development Coach, Under-21s Assistant Manager and Youth Manager.

The former Republic of Ireland international, who won 33 caps for his country, has also been Assistant Manager of the national Under-21 side since September 2023 – a role he will continue.

As a defender, he made more than 400 senior appearances for clubs including Brighton and Hove Albion, West Bromwich Albion, Hull City, Reading and Rochdale.

Robinson worked in Saudi Arabia as Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Al-Ettifaq.

He began his football career as Head of Performance Analysis at Bristol Rovers. After two years there, he had a brief spell as First Team Opposition Analyst at Swansea City before moving to Liverpool, where he spent nine years.

During his time at Anfield, he mostly worked with the youth teams – having nearly five years as a Youth Development Coach and spells as Under-18s Assistant Coach, Under-16s Head Coach and Under-21 Assistant Coach. He also had 10 months as First Team Analyst.

He left Anfield in November 2023 to link up with Gerrard in Saudi Arabia, before leaving his role there in February 2025.

Grant is also going to appoint a Specialist Goalkeeper Coach in the near future.

He said of his new appointments: “Their diverse backgrounds, dedication and commitment to excellence will be invaluable to us as we continue to grow and build something special at this club.

“Their leadership and character will play a major role in amplifying the work that we do on and off the pitch, as we work towards success together.”
