Brentford have appointed former Cambridge United Sporting Director Ben Strang as their new Head of UK Recruitment.
Strang announced the news on LinkedIn, saying he was “delighted to be joining such a well-respected operation”.
Strang left Cambridge in February after two spells spanning more than 13 years. He first joined the Us in 2011 as Chief Scout and returned as Sporting Director in 2016 after two years at Norwich, where he was Head of Academy Recruitment.
On leaving Cambridge, Strang said: “Clearly this season has carried significant challenges but when reflecting on my overall spell with the Club, I am immensely proud of what we have achieved.”
Brentford are renowned for their innovative recruitment of players and their policy of buying comparatively cheaply, developing them and selling them on for big profits, as with the likes of Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney.
The club’s Technical Director, Lee Dykes, explained the seven stages of recruitment the Bees undertake in signing players at the end of 2023.
