TOTTENHAM have sacked Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo along with his coaching staff of Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias.

The Portuguese coach, who was appointed by Tottenham in July and has taken charge of just 10 Premier League games for them, arrived at the club’s training ground this morning before his sacking was announced.

Fabio Paratici, Managing Director, Football, said: "I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision

“Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”

Scot Cathro was Assistant Head Coach and had previously worked with Nuno at Wolves, Rio Ave and Valencia. The duo first met at a Scottish Football Association coaching course in 2009.

Goalkeeper coach Barbosa and fitness coach Dias were also long-time associates of Nuno’s. Barbosa worked with him at Rio Ave and Porto, while Dias was with him at Rio Ave, Valencia and Porto.

When Nuno was appointed, chairman Daniel Levy said: “I’ve spoken already about the need to revert back to our core DNA of playing attacking, entertaining football and Fabio and I believe Nuno is the man who can take our talented group of players, embrace our young players coming through and build something special.”

However, fans were dissatisfied with both results and a defensive, pragmatic style of play that was on view under their new manager.
