Hollingsworth replaces Shaheir as Everton Director of Medical

DR JOHN HOLLINGSWORTH has been promoted to Director of Medical at Everton following the departure of Dr Aboul Shaheir after four years.

Hollingsworth joined as club doctor in 2015 and has been a consultant emergency physician at Aintree University Hospital. Shaheir was appointed club doctor in March 2015, before being promoted to Director of Medical in October 2017.

In that role, the former Crusaders Rugby League physician had overall responsibility for medical provision at first team and U23 level.

There have been changes in other departments since the end of last season. Luis Boa Morte has been appointed as manager Marco Silva’s assistant following the departure of Joao Pedro Sousa, who was appointed Head Coach of Portuguese side Famalicão.

Boa Morte, the former Arsenal, Southampton and Fulham forward, worked with Silva at Sporting Lisbon, where he was U19 coach.

Most recently, he has been assistant at Israeli side Maccabi Haifa. Dr Simon Jones was doctor with the U23s last season and remains in the role.
