Southampton Academy duo Asghar & Chapman depart after a season

Under-21s Head Coach Adam Asghar and Head of Academy Recruitment Jack Chapman have both left Southampton after a season.
Asghar is set to be announced as U18s Head Coach at Celtic, while Chapman is joining Tottenham as Head of Academy Recruitment. Asghar joined from Sunderland, where he was U18s Lead Coach, last September. and had previously worked with Goldie at Dundee United, where he was Head of the Professional Phase and then First Team Coach.
"Adam is a young coach with an exciting future ahead of him, but he's been presented with an opportunity better suited to his personal circumstances and we are happy to support him in getting him closer to his family,” Goldie said.
Chapman had also worked with Goldie before joining Saints - as Head of Academy Recruitment at Swansea City. He moved to the south coast in August 2023.
Southampton have now had three notable departures from their Academy since the end of the season, with Assistant Academy Director Natasha Patel also having left to become Head of Analytics for US Soccer.
Academy Director Andy Goldie had instigated a huge change of personnel since arriving at the Category One club from Swansea City last summer.
