Amy Kay: Joins Brighton's Category One Academy tomorrow (May 1st)

Lincoln City’s Amy Kay has joined Brighton as their new Foundation Phase Lead.

The former Lincoln City Women’s captain has coached full-time with the Imps Academy since 2018 and has been their Pre-Academy and Schoolboy Phase Lead Coach (U7-14) since January 2023.

Lincoln’s Head of Academy Jon Pepper told TGG: "In my 28 years’ experience within Academy football, I don't think I have met someone who has had such an impact on a programme in such a short space of time.

“She has so much energy and enthusiasm for the role which, combined with her knowledge of child development, has made her an outstanding member of staff and leader within our Academy.

“We all knew that we would lose Amy at some stage to a bigger Academy. I hoped it wouldn't be this early, however, our loss is definitely Brighton's gain and everyone at Lincoln City wishes Amy well in the new chapter of her career."

Kay will begin her new role at Brighton’s Category One Academy tomorrow (May 1st). As far as TGG is aware, she will be the only female phase lead in male Academy football.

Melissa Brown was Foundation Phase at Preston for three years before becoming Manchester United Women’s Under-21s Head Coach in February.
