Head of Recruitment Brian Carey exits Tottenham after six years

TOTTENHAM Head of Recruitment Brian Carey has left the club after six years.

Carey initially joined Spurs as Senior Scout for the North West of England, before his role was expanded to Europe and then Head of Recruitment. Spurs Managing Director Football, Fabio Paratici, has been conducting a shake-up behind the scenes since being appointed in June 2021.

Technical Performance Director Steve Hitchen, who was responsible for “building capabilities to support a world-class football infrastructure across senior and youth teams”, exited after five years in February.

Paratici is now looking for an assistant to work alongside him, in much the same way that Liverpool promoted Julian Ward to Assistant Sporting Director to Michael Edwards, who he will succeed at the end of the season.

Carey is a former Republic of Ireland international defender who left Cork City to join Manchester United in 1989, although he never made a senior appearance for them.

He want on to play for Leicester City and Wrexham before coaching at Wrexham, Doncaster, Wolves, Blackburn Rovers and Chesterfield. The Uefa A Licence holder then moved into scouting and recruitment with Spurs.

The members of Tottenham’s Football Board are Chairman Daniel Levy, Paratici, Rebecca Caplehorn (Director of Football Administration and Governance) and Matthew Collecott (Operations and Finance Director).
